SCOTT SIMONS

Scott is a sixth-generation Texan who’s lived in Austin for fifteen years. Scott has shown in multiple galleries and art spaces over the past twenty years and has been a practicing painter for most of his life.

Utilizing layers of paint and barely-visible markings and figures underneath overlays of color and washes of glaze, Scott focuses on creating a sense of depth, mystique and mystery that pulls the eye into the piece and begs the viewer to move closer.

“My work is an attempt to engage with something elemental about the human experience”, says Simons, “We’re all a little bit blind. We don’t have all the answers and never will. Yet, we go on searching for meaning in life. We keep seeking and keep going. We go on through the beautiful fog. That’s what I want to honor in my work.”
