Artist Statement: I seek to uncover landscapes with a paintbrush while exploring the human condition. The energy and connection that lies within the natural world has much to teach us about ourselves, and about one another. My creative process begins by building upon watery layers of paint, with the emphasis being on the sense of touch. As I make sweeping arcs with the watered down paint, or soft delicate rubs with a towel to blend, a landscape slowly and organically forms. Part II of the process begins the uncovering. It feels as if the entire scene already exists on the canvas. My role is not only to find it, but to pull it out of the haze. I selectively detail important moments by using a dry brush technique. These moments may resemble memories, relationships, or the landscape that you consider home. My intent is to uncover what has always been there- waiting to be felt, seen, touched, loved.
