SUSAN SAGE
Susan Sage is a self-taught portrait artist based out of Portland, Oregon. She has been experimenting in portraiture her entire life and painting professionally for more than a decade. Sage’s figurative portraits feature saturated acrylic colors on plywood depicting vibrant and frivolous scenes of people socializing in an ambiguous time and place. Her warm, evocative paintings are created from stylized photoshoots of her friends. Sage’s work highlights the joy of human connection and the artist’s personal journey exploring the interaction of portraiture’s technical artistry with abstract art’s creative freedom. Her new work will feature pieces inspired by her recent Los Angeles adventures and beachside photoshoots. Follow her on Instagram @susansageart for more in-progress and behind the scenes shots of her process.
